On June 30, 2022, California Governor Gavin Newsom signed Senate Bill 54 (SB 54), the most stringent and comprehensive plastic restriction-related bill available, with more than 50 pages of legislation aimed at reducing the amount of plastic generated in California and increasing recycling rates.
We can see that the U.S. government (and other governments around the world) are increasingly concerned about the environmental impact of plastic products and are imposing restrictions and bans on non-degradable, single-use plastic packaging (including straws, spoons, etc.) in the restaurant industry.
